Frequently Asked Questions

Is the PDF to text tool free?

Yes. No signup, no watermark and no payment, up to 10 documents per day per network.

Which files can I convert?

PDF, plus PNG, JPG, WEBP, AVIF and TIFF images and scans. The limit is 8 MB per file.

Does it keep tables and layout?

Tables come back as markdown tables and the text keeps the reading order of the page. Complex magazine layouts and multi-column PDFs can still interleave columns, so read the first page before you publish.

Which languages are supported?

The OCR model reads more than 40 languages, including English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Mixed-language documents work as long as each page is mostly one language.

How many pages can I convert?

Up to 30 pages when the PDF has selectable text, and up to 6 pages for a scanned PDF where every page is read as an image. Longer documents are cut off and the result says so, so nothing is silently dropped.

Is my document stored?

The file is sent to the OCR model, the text is returned to your browser, and Clipaist does not keep the document after the request. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.
